Technical SEO Engineering

Kornspire engineers the technical foundations of search visibility: crawlability and indexation, rendering strategy, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals and search-console diagnostics.

The problem

Good content that search engines cannot reach or understand

When pages do not appear in search, the cause is frequently structural rather than editorial. Content renders only after JavaScript that crawlers time out on. Canonical tags point to the wrong URL. Parameters generate thousands of near-duplicate pages that consume crawl budget. Pagination hides most of a catalogue. None of that is fixed by writing more.

Signals you have this problem

  • Pages are in the index inconsistently and nobody can explain the pattern
  • Search Console reports 'crawled — currently not indexed' across a whole section
  • Filters and parameters have produced large numbers of near-duplicate URLs
  • Mobile performance is poor and rankings track it downwards

Our approach

Diagnose with data, fix in the codebase, verify in the index

We work from crawl data, server logs and Search Console rather than from generic checklists. Findings are ranked by the number of valuable URLs affected, fixed in the codebase where the cause actually lives, and then verified — a fix is not finished until the index reflects it. Everything we do is defensible: technical work on your own property, no schemes that violate search-engine guidelines.

Crawl and indexation engineering

Crawl diagnostics, robots and directive audit, canonical strategy, parameter and faceted-navigation handling, sitemap generation and index-coverage resolution.

Rendering strategy for search

Ensuring primary content is present in the initial HTML response; choosing static, incremental, streamed or client rendering per route with search consequences understood.

Site and URL architecture

Topic and hub structure, URL design, internal linking depth, breadcrumb hierarchy, and pagination that keeps deep inventory reachable.

Structured data implementation

Schema.org JSON-LD generated from the same data the page displays, validated, and limited to types the visible content genuinely supports.

Core Web Vitals engineering

Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift work driven by field data, not only lab scores.

On-page structure

Heading hierarchy, title and description architecture generated from one source, internal link placement and image alt text.

Migration protection

Redirect mapping, pre-launch parity checks and post-launch monitoring, so a redesign does not quietly discard existing visibility.

Measurement and diagnostics

Search Console and analytics configuration, log-file analysis where available, and reporting that separates correlation from claim.

Outcomes

What changes for you

  • Valuable pages crawlable, indexable and rendered in the initial HTML
  • Duplicate and parameter URLs consolidated to a single canonical
  • Core Web Vitals measured in the field and improved where they fail
  • Structured data that validates and matches visible content

Deliverables

What you receive

  • Technical audit ranked by affected valuable URLs
  • Crawl, canonical and sitemap implementation
  • Structured-data implementation with validation output
  • Core Web Vitals baseline and post-work measurement
  • Redirect map for any migration in scope
  • Search Console diagnostics and monitoring setup

How it runs

The engagement, step by step

  1. 01

    Diagnose

Crawl the site, read Search Console and logs, and establish which valuable URLs are affected by what. Baseline is recorded before changes.

  2. 02

    Prioritise

Rank findings by URL value and effort. A canonical error across a whole section outranks a dozen cosmetic issues.

  3. 03

    Implement

Fix in the codebase — metadata and structured data generated from one source of truth rather than hand-maintained per page.

  4. 04

    Verify

Re-crawl, confirm index coverage moved, re-measure field performance, and keep monitoring in place.

Typical engagements

What this looks like in practice

Illustrative shapes of work rather than client stories. We publish client work only with the client's consent and with real figures, so these describe the problem and the approach instead.

Recovering a section that stopped being indexed

Tracing the cause — rendering, canonical, directive or duplication — then fixing it and confirming coverage in the index.

Protecting visibility through a redesign

URL parity and redirect mapping before launch, with post-launch monitoring for coverage and ranking loss.

Faceted navigation at scale

Deciding which filter combinations deserve indexable URLs and enforcing it, instead of letting crawl budget drain into duplicates.

Answers

Technical SEO Engineering: questions

What is Technical SEO?

Technical SEO is the engineering work that determines whether a search engine can reach, render, understand and index a website's content — covering crawl control, rendering strategy, site and URL architecture, structured data, internal linking and page performance.

Can Kornspire guarantee a first-page ranking?

No, and nobody honestly can. Ranking is decided by search engines using signals no vendor controls, including competitors' behaviour. What is controllable is whether your site is crawlable, renderable, fast, correctly structured and genuinely useful — and that is what we engineer. Any supplier who guarantees a position is either misrepresenting their influence or planning something that risks a penalty.

Does Kornspire do link building or paid media?

No. Off-page link acquisition, paid search, social media management and PR fall outside our scope, and outside the company's registered business objects. Our work is engineering on your own platform: crawlability, rendering, architecture, structured data, performance and content structure. Where off-page work is genuinely needed, a specialist agency is the right partner and we will work alongside them.

How long before technical SEO work shows results?

Indexation and crawl fixes often show movement within days to a few weeks, because they change what search engines can access. Ranking and traffic changes follow re-crawling and re-evaluation and typically take longer, commonly one to three months to read reliably. We report what the data supports and distinguish clearly between a technical fix that is verified and a traffic change that is inferred.

Is SEO still relevant when people ask AI assistants instead?

Yes, and increasingly so as a dependency. AI answer systems draw heavily on content they can crawl, parse and attribute — so a site that search engines cannot reach is also largely invisible to them. Technical SEO has become the shared foundation underneath conventional search, answer engines and generative assistants alike.

Crawl budget, and the sites that actually have a problem

Crawl budget is the most over-diagnosed problem in technical SEO. Most sites do not have one. The sites that do are usually generating URLs combinatorially — filters, parameters, pagination — and spending their crawl allowance on pages nobody should ever see.

hreflang, and the four ways it usually breaks

hreflang tells search engines which language or regional version of a page to show which user. It is unusually unforgiving: a cluster with one missing return link, one wrong code or one non-canonical URL is not partially working — it is ignored, and the fallback is whatever the engine guesses.

JavaScript rendering and whether your content is actually seen

A page can look complete in a browser and be almost empty to a crawler. Google renders JavaScript, but on its own schedule and with no guarantee; most AI answer engines do not render it at all. If your primary content arrives only after hydration, you are gambling on a second pass that may never come.

Migrating a site without discarding its rankings

Most traffic lost in a migration is lost to a handful of avoidable mistakes: URLs nobody inventoried, redirects that chain or land on the wrong page, and a launch nobody monitored closely enough to catch the damage while it was still cheap to fix.

Reading server logs to find out what crawlers actually do

Search Console tells you what Google concluded. Server logs tell you what it actually requested, when, and what your server returned. When indexing behaviour makes no sense from the reports alone, the logs almost always contain the answer.

SEO, AEO and GEO: why the foundation comes first

SEO optimises a page's standing in a ranked list. AEO optimises whether a passage can be extracted as a direct answer. GEO optimises whether a generative system describes your organisation accurately and cites you. All three depend on the same technical foundation, which is why the foundation is where the work should start.

Structured data that earns its place

Structured data is worth implementing when it describes something the page genuinely shows and a consuming system genuinely uses. Generate it from the same data that renders the page, keep it to types the content supports, and treat any mismatch between markup and visible content as a defect.
