Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)
Kornspire structures content for answer engines: question and intent mapping, direct extractable answers, FAQ and how-to schema, voice-search phrasing and answer-quality measurement.
The problem
The answer is on the page, buried in paragraph nine
Answer systems extract passages, not whole documents. A page can contain exactly the right information and never be used for it because the answer is implied across several paragraphs, sits below a long introduction, or is phrased in internal vocabulary rather than the way people actually ask. The content is fine; the structure prevents extraction.
Signals you have this problem
- Competitors appear in answer boxes for questions your content answers better
- Pages rank respectably but attract few clicks for question-shaped queries
- Support receives the same questions the website already addresses somewhere
- FAQ content exists as an accordion with no structured markup behind it
Our approach
One question, one direct answer, then the detail
We map the questions your audience genuinely asks — from support tickets, sales calls, site search and search data — and give each one a heading phrased as the question and a direct answer in the first forty to sixty words beneath it. Depth follows for the reader who wants it. Where the content type warrants it, FAQPage or HowTo schema is applied to content that is actually visible on the page.
Question and intent research
Harvesting real questions from support, sales, site search and search data, then clustering them by intent and by the page that should own each one.
Answer-first content structure
Question-shaped headings, a direct answer in the opening sentences, then supporting depth — a pattern that serves readers and extraction equally.
Answer markup
FAQPage, HowTo, QAPage and Article schema applied only where the visible page content genuinely matches the markup.
Conversational and voice phrasing
Natural-language phrasing that matches spoken questions, with concise answers suitable for a spoken response.
Question architecture across the site
Deciding which page owns which question, so several pages do not compete for the same answer and dilute each other.
Answer-quality measurement
Tracking question-query impressions and click behaviour, and reviewing which answers are being surfaced and which are being skipped.
Outcomes

What you receive
- Question inventory clustered by intent
- Question-to-page ownership map
- Rewritten answer-first sections for priority questions
- Schema implementation with validation output
- Measurement view for question-shaped queries
- Editorial guidance so new content follows the pattern

Structured data built from page content
Every page carries schema.org markup generated from the same content it renders, so markup and page cannot disagree.

How it runs
The engagement, step by step
- 01
Harvest questions
Collect real questions from support, sales, site search and search data. Invented questions are excluded — they help nobody.
- 02
Assign ownership
Map each question cluster to the single page that should answer it, resolving overlaps that currently split the signal.
- 03
Restructure
Question-shaped heading, direct answer in the first lines, depth below, and schema where the content type supports it.
- 04
Measure
Watch question-query performance and support volume, then refine answers that are not being surfaced.
Typical engagements
What this looks like in practice
Illustrative shapes of work rather than client stories. We publish client work only with the client's consent and with real figures, so these describe the problem and the approach instead.
Turning a support knowledge base into answer content
Restructuring existing help material into question-owned pages with extractable answers and valid markup.
Consolidating competing FAQ pages
Several pages answering the same question are merged into one owner, with the others linking to it.
Pre-sales question coverage
Documenting the objections and comparisons buyers actually raise, answered directly instead of deflected into a contact form.
Answers
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): questions
What is Answer Engine Optimization?
Answer Engine Optimization is the practice of structuring a site's content so that systems which return direct answers — search features such as featured snippets and People Also Ask, voice assistants and AI answer panels — can locate, extract and correctly attribute a specific answer to a specific question.
What is the difference between AEO and SEO?
SEO aims to get a page ranked as a result; AEO aims to get a specific passage used as the answer. They overlap — a page usually has to be indexable and reasonably ranked before it is eligible for extraction — but the work differs. SEO is largely crawl, render, architecture and performance; AEO is question ownership, answer placement, phrasing and markup.
Does FAQ schema still produce rich results?
Far less often than it once did. Since August 2023, Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known, authoritative government and health websites, so treating FAQPage markup as a route to visual rich snippets is outdated advice. It remains worthwhile as clear machine-readable structure for answer systems, and the answer-first content pattern retains its value independently of whether any rich result is displayed.
Can AEO reduce our support load?
It often does, because the same restructuring that makes an answer extractable also makes it findable by a customer. We usually measure this alongside search metrics: repeat-question volume is frequently a more meaningful indicator than an impression count.
Will you write the answers or do we?
Either. Your subject-matter experts hold the accurate answers, so the strongest arrangement is usually that they supply substance and we structure, phrase and mark it up. We do not publish claims about your business that you have not verified.
