Retail & E-commerce

Kornspire engineers retail and e-commerce platforms: catalogue and inventory accuracy, storefront performance, integrations, and the technical SEO that keeps product pages discoverable.

What we build

What we can build and run in this sector

Storefront performance engineering

Rendering strategy per template, image pipeline, caching and Core Web Vitals work measured on real devices and field data.

Catalogue and inventory systems

Product data modelling, multi-channel stock synchronisation with reconciliation, and pricing and promotion rules.

Order, payment and fulfilment integration

Idempotent payment handling, gateway integration, courier and warehouse interfaces, and exception queues for failures.

Search and answer visibility

Indexable category and product architecture, faceted-URL policy, product structured data, and answer content for buying questions.

Peak-readiness

Load testing against projected peaks, autoscaling policy, cache strategy and a degradation plan that protects checkout first.

Pressures

What this sector demands of the engineering

Retail is unusually unforgiving of technical weakness because the consequences are immediately measurable. A slow product page loses the sale before it renders. Stock that is accurate in one system and stale in another produces cancellations. And a faceted catalogue left unmanaged generates enough near-duplicate URLs to exhaust crawl budget on pages nobody should see.

01Page speed on mid-range mobile devices is directly tied to conversion

02Inventory must agree across storefront, warehouse and marketplace channels

03Catalogue and faceted navigation create crawl and duplication problems at scale

04Peak events multiply load far above the ordinary baseline

05Payment and fulfilment integrations must fail safely and reconcile

Constraints

Regulatory and operational limits we design around

Engineering controls, not legal advice

We build and evidence the technical controls compliance depends on. Determining which obligations apply to your organisation is a matter for your legal and compliance advisers.

  • Payment data handling must respect card-scheme requirements; card data is kept out of scope wherever a gateway allows it
  • Customer personal data falls under the DPDP Act 2023, and under GDPR for shoppers in the EU
  • Product structured data must match the visible page — price and availability mismatches cause manual action
  • Consent for marketing communication must be captured and revocable per channel

Answers

Retail & E-commerce: questions

Do you build on platforms like Shopify, or from scratch?

Both, and the choice should be driven by where your differentiation lies. A hosted commerce platform handles catalogue, checkout and payments well and is usually the right base. Custom engineering earns its place in the layers around it — storefront performance, integration with warehouse and ERP systems, pricing logic, or a headless front end when the platform's templating becomes the constraint.

How do you handle faceted navigation and duplicate URLs?

By deciding deliberately which filter combinations deserve an indexable URL, based on genuine search demand, and then enforcing that with canonical tags, robots directives and internal linking. Left unmanaged, facets generate combinatorial URLs that consume crawl budget and dilute signals across pages that should have been consolidated.
